Mr. Colby is talking to different levels in the Agency to determine the "state of health of the Agency". a. I Ireported on their 25X1 lunch with Mr. Colby. They were impresse with tne tact that Mr. Colby is well informed on the type of work IAS is doing. Mr. Colby asked such questions as: Do we think the proposed Video Links to Head uarters will be worth the cost? 25X1 I fir. Colby commented that he was very impressed with personnel an analysis. 2. reported that the telephone watch has been provisionally terminate y Vault security will be assigned to one person for a week at a time. new list is being prepared. IAS personnel should sign on the form on the vault door by 1600 if planning to stay after hours so that the vault security can be turned over to someone promptly. Blue security forms are to be handed in to the NPIC security guard on departure. a. Security is looking for safety hazards. Be sure to unplug all coffee pots at night and do not leave trash cans in the hall. b. The Xerox will be cut off at 1615. Anyone wishing to use it after hours will have to turn it on themselves. When finished, they should turn the machine off and secure the area. 3. The DDI Professional Development Panel is to produce a DDI handbook on career development. 5. Those attending the Intelligence Production Course will be in IAS Monday afternoon for discussions with analysts. Mr. Colby was on the Hill this morning briefing the Proxmire 25X1 committee on Soviet and Chinese economies. d. The Community assessment on the possibilities of a SALT Treaty being signed are 10% or less. 25X1 f. Senator McClellan has requested a briefing from the Agency on all the bad things about CIA. 25X1 25X1 i. At yesterday's Press Club banquet, Secretary of Defense Schlesinger responded to a question that U.S. intelligence collection capabilities are absolutely unsurpassed; however, analysis was difficult and policy makers have continually had some problems with it.
