An army training center is located in the woo,- )-,etween Koszalin (Ktibslin)

Koszalin and Sjanow is bounied on the right .3(2t.t tf,0106. toward Koszalin by
a barbed-wire fence, on whicn are affixed glens designating the area xestricted,
Prior to 1945 this region was used as a training area by the Germans, end ace
cordine to local rumor it is being used for the same purpose by the Polish Army
at present. Side roads Which branch off the, main Koszalin-31anow road are not
blocked, but ape fenced off sone distance into the forest; it is Oeliteved that
there are chedk points on these roadsfurther in the forest where they cannot
be observed from the main road.- .
In the sumer of 1952 much construction work was underway in the area. lImeaps
el Soldiers in fetiguesdarrying tools such as shovels were observed occasionally.
At ,e. point on the main road about three kilometers from Koszalin a group of
eewly-constructed single-story barracks were observed. All had doors and
window about 15 meters long A row of board obstacles about three by lour
meters equare, such as those used for military training, were also observed.
On the left side of the main road going in the direction of Koszalin, at a
point about 1.5 kilometers distant from Koszalin, there are artillery barracks
occupied by Polish troops. Most of the troops wear red hatbands, but some wear
green ones0 the caserne consists of more than ten five-story buildings, stretched
nlong the road for some distance. Between them and the road is an exercise
field. Prior to 1945 these barracks were occupied by German artillery troops,
On several occasions aussian officers were observed in front of the barracks.
At times up to 20 artillery pieces were observed on the exercise field. Most
of them were on two wheels, some on four. No trucks werF seen in the area, but
heavy Maxim machine guns on wheels were observed on occasions.

the t7,74t between, Kossalin and Maskow; they were about 100 meters into the forest
and about 20 meters to the left of the road, going from Naskow to Koszalin The
forest is restricted and is fenced off from the beginning of the wood on the
Hossaljn side to shortly before the end of the forest on the Maskow side
