ApprzsG For ele se 4/05712 W-RDP7dBW3 8IR020 2301'24-4- Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Tuesday - 28 February 1967 Page 2 8. (Unclassified - GLC) Left for Representative Roman Pucinski one of our "support packages" on the NSA matter. 9. (Unclassified - GLC) Picked up from the office of Representative Dante B. Fascell a copy of a letter from Carl L. Libby, of the Tropical Typewriter Service in Coral Gables, Florida, concerning the loan of a typewriter to the Agency in 1964 which was never returned. We are checking into this. 10. (Unclassified - GLC) Met with Representative Robert N. Giamo and had an interesting talk with him. This was by way of follow up to a letter Mr. Giamo's law partner, Arthur S. Sachs sent to Dr. Sherman Kent concerning the NSA matter. Mr. Giamo said Sachs had mentioned his acquaintence with Kent and his intention to write the Agency a letter indicating their support and desire to be of assistance if possible. The Congressman underscored this expression saying he would be happy to be of assistance to us. I thanked Mr. Giamo for his expressions and added that while we were not requesting anything, he might be interested in having, for reference purposes, a copy of some of the more pertinent newspaper items on this subject. He said he would very much appreciate this material and I left with him a copy of our "support package. " In an interesting aside, Mr. Giamo mentioned that he had recently received a visit from a group of "peaceniks" all of whom had been courtesly treated by him. Much to his surprise, one of these members later charged that the Congressman had been rude and uncooperative. (This turned out to be a university student from New Haven who was not even a constituent of the Congressman and who had refused to identify herself when he asked for her name and address.) This was of particular interest since Representative Hastings Keith had mentioned an almost identical situation when I talked with him last week. 11. (Unclassified - GLC) Herb Atkinson, Senate Armed Services Committee staff, called to say they had received a letter addressed to Dr. R. H. Edwin Espy, Secretary General of the Senate Council for CIA. The letter bears a Calcutta postmark and no return address. Atkinson said he had talked with Bill Darden about this and Darden instructed him not to open the letter but to check this name with us. We are checking into this. Approved For Release 2004/05/12 : CIA-RDP70B00338R000200230124-4
