Redwood National Park: Senate considered but did
not complete action on S. 2515, authorizing establish-
ment of Redwood National Park, Calif., adopting Morse
amendment to exempt from Government property ex-
changeable for lands to create the park any property
needed for public use and management.
By unanimous consent, it was agreed that after Sena-
tors Jackson and Kuchel conclude their opening state-
ments on the bill, the following debate limitations shall
apply: i hour, equally divided, on any amendment ex-
cept the pending Ellender amendment (for himself and
others) No. 426 which would exempt from Government
property exchangeable for lands to create the park any
lands within the Northern Redwood Purchase unit in
Del Norte County; that no nongermane amendment
shall be received; i hour, equally divided, on question of
final passage; and that vote shall be taken on passage of

North Atlantic Assembly: It was announced that the
Vice President has appointed the following Senators to
be delegates to the North Atlantic Assembly to be held
at Brussels November 20-25: Sparkman, Jackson, Bayh,
McIntyre, Mondale, Javits, Cooper, Mundt, and Hansen
(Williams of New Jersey and Montoya, as alternates).

NOMINATIONS-D.C. COUNCIL
Committee on the District of Columbia: In executive ses-
sion, committee ordered favorably reported the nomina-
tions of the following nine D.C. residents to the follow-
ing positions on the District of Columbia Council: John
W. Hechinger and Walter E. Fauntroy, to be Chairman
and Vice Chairman, respectively; Margaret A. Hay-
wood, J. C. Turner, and Joseph P. Yeldell, to be mem-
bers for terms expiring February 1,1968; John A. Nevius,
to be member for term expiring February 1, 1969; and
Stanley J. Anderson, William S. Thompson, and Polly
Shackleton, to be members for terms expiring February

SOCIAL SECURITY
Committee on Finance: Committee continued executive

INTERNATIONAL GRAINS AGREEMENT
Committee on Foreign Relations: Committee held an
executive session, hearing testimony on the International
Grains Agreement from John A. Schnittker, Assistant
Secretary of Agriculture; and William M. Roth, Special
Representative for Trade Negotiations.
INTERGOVERNMENTAL PERSONNEL
Committee on Government Operations: In executive ses-
sion, committee ordered reported with amendments
S. 699, proposed Intergovernmental Personnel Act of
1967.
