Wednesday - 23 October 1968
1. Met with Mr. Boyd Crawford, Staff
Administrator, House Foreign Affairs Committee, who advised that
he will be traveling to Europe for the NATO Parliamentarians meeting
with Representative Wayne Hays. Mr. Crawford does not foresee a
need for Agency briefings or assistance either before or during the
European trip. Mr. Crawford noted in passing that Representative Hays
appears to have modified his views of the Agency and its activities.
2. Met with Mr. Melvin Benson,
Staff Consultant, House Foreign Affairs Committee staff, who provided
a copy of the Middle East Study Mission itinerary. No requirement for
Agency briefing or assistance is anticipated by Mr. Benson.
4. Received a call from Mr. James Calloway,
Chief Counsel and Staff Director, Senate Committee on Government
Operations, who said he had a letter addressed to Senator McClellan as
Chairman of the Committee from a college student interested in joining
the Agency, knowing more about the Agency, etc. Mr. Calloway requested
us to send an application form, brochure, and pamphlet directly to

This date was advised by Galloway's
office that since we have responded to a
similar inquiry on behalf of
