Approved For Release 2001/08/30 :CIA-RDP73B00296R000200130001-5 JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGIS LATIVE COUNSEL Thursday - 16 December 1971 1, (Secret - JGO) Accompanied Mr, Dave Brandv~Tein, FMSAC, to a meeting with Mr. George Murphy, Deputy Director, anal Colonel Seymour S chwiller, Technical Consultant, .Joint Committee: on Atomic Ener~v. __concerning the Soviet orbital satellite surveillance system. The meeting was friendly and low key, There are no followups, 2. (Secret - JGO) Received a call from Miss Mary McLaughlin, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, who requested the Committee transcripts of 2 May 1961 and 6 March 1962 for delivery to the Committee tomorrow for review by the "Pentagon Group, " Miss McLaughlin reiterated that the transcripts will be retained in the main Committee room, S, 116, and can be picked up at the close of business. 3, (Confidential - JGO} After checking the record of Agency briefings for 1961-62, I called Miss Mary McLaughlin, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, and asked if she had checked the dates she had requested earlier in the afternoon, She had not, I told her that these were before there was an agreed Agency procedure for retention of transcripts, We had seen the transcripts at the time but our file notation for the 2 May 1961 transcript indicated that the original was retained by the Committee, I pointed out that these transcripts related to testimony concerning Cuba and the second, Francis Gary Powers, and asked if these topics were now to be included in the area of review by the "Pentagon pe:ople." Miss McLaughlin thanked me very much for the call and cancelled the request. 4. (Confidential - GLC) I checked with Mr. C. B. 1VIorrison, on the staff of Senator Allen J. Ellender (D. , La. ), who informed me that the Senator is still planning to make his trip to Antarctica and confirmed that his return itinerary will include stops in Bill Woodruff, Counsel, Senate Appropriations Committee staff, has suggested that our people make themselves known to Senator Ellender and offer to brief h:im.
