General Remarks
6(44.0C-5;071,0):
In July 1953, a "labor" unit from Kaloce, between 500 and 600 men
-Strong, arrived at Molnari, where ordinarily there is no military
garrison, and was billeted in local homes, while its headquarters was
set up in the offices of a local brick kiln. The unit brought along
various individual work tools and four excavators.
A few days after its arrival, the unit began to build semipermanent
defense works along a line along the border and about 1,000 meters from
the later.
Extent of Defense Line
the task of the labor unit in question
was to build defense works in a sector of about 15 kilometers beginning
at Molnari, passing near Semenhaza and Septnek, and extending as far
as another locality (whose name the source does not recall) about 7
kilometers from Septnek (the ,distance between Septnek and Molnari is
about )3 kilometere).
Description of Defense Installations

- reinforced-concrete construction
round-or square-shaped
- wall thickness, 20-30 cm.
cupola-type cover rising about 50 cm. above ground level
flooring: concrete in some emplacements, brick in others, and
packed earth in others
- depth, about 2 meters (underground)
embrasures: three, about 20 x 15 cm. each (in the frontal and
lateral sections)
entrance in rear (toward Hungarian territory), with iron door and
a few steps leading down into the emplacement
- camouflage: the cupola of the emplacement was covered with earth
in which grass was seeded
- the distance between emplacements varies between 20 and 150
depending on the nature of the terrain
meters,
Connecting Trench
The emplacements are interconnected by an open connecting trench,
about 70 cm. wide and 1.50 meters deep, which runs to the rear of the
emplacements.
Ammunition Storage Facilities
50X1 None
Wire Entangle me nt
As work on the emplacements proceeded, a double wire entanglement,
about 1.50 meters high, was installed about 20 meters in front of the
line of emplacements; the one-meter-wide corridor between the two
rows of the entanglement was then filled in with another, gabion-type
entanglement.
At the time to which this information refers, this entanglement had
been built from Molnari to a point beyond Semenhara and its construction
was proceeding toward Septnek.
