Transmittal of "The Highlanders of South Vie
1. Attached per your request is a copy of the stud
s of South Viet ant", done byl ~of this office.
I told you orally. this study has been kept so far as an
internal Agency document. However. I did send copies to Ambassador
Unger at the Department of State and Major General W. R. Peers, SALSA,
for their review and coxmments. We have now received letters on this
study from both State and SACSA. Both apparently like it and SACSA has
requested that it be made available to the services for use in their schools
and to CINCPAC for distribution to COMUSMACY and U. S. advisors
wing with Montagnard problems down to sector and sub-sector levels.
3. In light of the above request, we will make this further
distribution outside the Agency though probably with a different cover, in
order to make less conspicuous the fact that this is a CIA document.
