26 January 1965 The Director briefed the Committee on Soviet
military posture and the economic situation in
the Soviet Union.
1 February 1965 Various officials debriefed Carl Marcy after his
travel of last year.
5 February 1965 Advised the staff regarding a question posed by
Senator Lausche on Soviet gold reserves.
8 February 1965 Responded to a staff request prompted by an article
by Jack Anderson alleging Chinese Communist spying

statement attributed to the Chairman regarding the
Vietnam coup. These had been associated with the
Director's prior briefing.

assertions that the FBI was assuming CIA functions

Far East.
The DD/I briefed Senator Morse's Subcommittee on
Cuba.
Obtained a copy of the Chairman's letter to Secretary
Rusk making inquiries about the operations of Air
America.
Provided the staff with a copy of the Director's letter
to the Chairman regarding a CIA Subcommittee of the
Foreign Relations Committee.
Received from the staff a desk-type model of a Soviet
Sputnik for analysis.
Discussed with Carl Marcy the subject of alleged
Agency use of Fulbright Scholars.
The Director appeared before the Committee in
connection with his letter to the editor of the St. Louis
Globe Democrat.
The staff was provided with the statutory reference
prohibiting the Agency from engaging in internal
security functions.

the Vietnamese Communists' Will to Resist.
Talked with Carl Marcy regarding an allegation that
a Fulbright Scholar had been approached by the Agency.
20 December 1966 The Director met with Chairman Fulbright. They
discussed Vietnam and the Director's appearance
before the Committee next year.
3 February 1967 The Director briefed the Disarmament Subcommittee.
13 February 1967 Briefed Bill Bader on Morocco, Iran and Pakistan.
15 February 1967 Made available to Carl Marcy the transcript of the
Director's testimony before the Committee on 25 and
28 February 1966 for the purpose of checking the 25X1
DCI's statements regarding domestic operations.

Remarks :
You may recall the Director asked me to
furnish him a list of our business with the Senate
Foreign Relations Committee over the last two
years. I have attached a copy of what I forwarded
to him directly. There are some 55 items
recorded and we have left out minor contacts.
Additionally, many of the listed items involved
in some cases five or six separate contacts and
