1G The headquarters of the Northwest ilitary Area and the headquarters of the
1 Field Armor have recently been moved from Sian to Lanchow, Henceforth,
Lanohow will be the military center of the Northwest Area and Sian the political.
This change was made in order to establish a rear headquarters base for the
entire Chinese Communist Army in the event of q. third world war. Laneho~r
is ideal for this purpose. Ley military cons ruction projects are now being
pushed there.
20 CIIANG Taung sun (& ;r, ), first deputy commander, 1 Field Array, and
YEN Vuei.yao (j~: 4,T '-: ), chief of staff, will command the Northwest
