Support of Local Police
To the Editor: Commissioner Allen recent-j
ly tore from the wall of the Police Depart-'
ment a pamphlet entitled "Support Your Lo-'
cal Police". Witin a week, what is explained:
in the pamphlet hit home. The cry of police`
brutality and two fine officers being sued.
;.'Good people now cry brutality, because it is
the thing to do, not knowing we've been"
propagandized to the hilt.
Let me quote from testimony before the

13, 1961. Mr. Lyman B. Kirkpatrick Jr., in
specter general of the staff of the director of'
the.. CIA testified:
Our olice are among the foremost guar- .
dians of freedom and thus a major target of
the Communists. The better ? the force, the
greater its efficiency, the higher its compe-
tence in preserving the peace, tli more vital
it is for the Communists to destroy it."
Further he states: "The Communists will
exert every effort to prevent the development

Our police force in Rockford is one of the::
finest any place around, that is why they are
being torn apart, hissed, booed. The fine pee-
lice force, urge the commissioners to do
likewise. Then praise the commissioners when
they support our police force. Some eople
will say, well, he's one of those supercoi sere-
alive hate-mongers. I would suggest you write
to a very good anti-Communist yet iberal
Democratic senator, Thomas Dodd, or the
hearings entitled, "A Communist Against
