The sponsors of tlp claadegtiue radio wore revealed i n t h e next sentence: "Ag3SO D is the va d of the people of Venezuela in their battle without qua;-ter against the fascist dictatorship... Citizen! FLmmber that the dictatorship is everyoosy's plague, and the fist to over- throw it should be everybody's." "Fellow party members" were urged to increase their party propaganda, to teice subccriptione to the clandestine press, and to listen to the Resistance Radio. The latter, it said, stood for "the overthrow of the dictatorship, the reconquest of popular sovereignty which has beamusurpod, and a rotarn to constitutionali,y." The station identified itself as "IIa Emisora do la Resistencia" and gave no location, but used the call letters YV6AD. (Note: According to the Venezuelan system of indicating the distri ` in which a radio station is located, the 'letters T76 denote the district formed by the provinces of Guarico, Anzoategui, Sucre,Mmagae and Bolivar. Hence by assuming those call letters, the Resistance Radio indicated itself as an Aceibn. Democratica transmitter in the a'Mve district.) The wavelength was announced as 45 maisre or 6.8 megacycles; the actual measured frequency was 6743.6 kilocycles.' The signal was fairly strong, and inte7li.gibiltty fluctuated considerably and.suddenly, as if technical adjustments to the mmdulatien were being made during the broadcast. A distinct power hum was evident in the carrier. The broadcast closed at 21:50 after the saaomncer said that they had to leave the air for a time. "But soon we will be with you, combatting the-military dictatorahip'in Venezuela as always." A careful watch has been kept since, but no f1a ther broadcasts have been int++rcepted. ?~~/!!it+i~ 16~ CLASSIFICATION Y'g STATE K Naw SRI) DISTRIBUTION ARMY AIR_~.,FBt"~ ?~~_ Approved For Release 2008/03/03: CIA-RDP80-00809A000500730102-4
