The Kirov Machine-Building Plant in Gorlovka has put a new coal combine
into serial production. (Kiev, 11 April 1949)
This report is submitted in response to a request for specific information
concerning a list'N Of machine-tool plants in the Soviet Union. The material has been
gathered from USSR AND SATELLITE INFORMATION ABSTRACTS (published weekly since
8 October 1948) which includes all economic items from monitored Soviet broadcasts.
All monitored items (since 6 October 1948) pertaining to this request follow in
tabular form:
The following information concerns factories not included in the request list:
The Chernigov Preluki Machine-Building Plant has completed the construction
of a new mechanical workshop covering an area of 1,000 square meters.
(Chernigov, in Ukrainian, 8 November 1948)
The Gorniak Machine-Building Plant in Kutaisi has reached the production
level planned for 1950. (Tiflis? 28 February 1949)
The Kiev Electric-Precision-Tool Plant increased production 2.2 times during
1948 as compared to 1947, (Kiev, in Ukrainian, 6 October 1948)
The "Neva Lenin Machine-Building Plant" in Leningrad has completed successful
tests of a new steam air-blast "turbo-blower." (TABS, in Russian Morse to the
Far North, 13 April 1949)
The "K aenoluchekv Machine-Building PlantN completed the four-year production
plan in two years and 10 months. (Kiev, in Ukrainian, 11 November 1948) (NOTE:

Kiev or Gorki Machine-Tool The Gorki Machine-Tool Plant has produced. experimental
Kizel Plant "drum-type" milling machines. A longitudinal four-
spindle milling machine has been built; it is capable of

plan manufacture of three "universal" milling machines
by the end of January. (Kiev, 27 January 1949)
The "Urals Machine-Building Works" recently completed the
manufacture of all machinery and equipment for the rail
and steel girder shop of the Tagil Metal Works. During
1949, new types of blast furnaces: rolling mills and
