1. I met with Colonel White to discuss the following items:
a. Colonel White concurred in my intention to authorize the
Office of Logistics to purchase $10, 000 worth of Class A furniture
to replenish our exhausted stock.
b. I mentioned to Colonel White a letter from Eliot H.
Lumbard, Special Assistant Counsel for Law Enforcement to the
Governor of the State of New York, requesting the attendance of
two Office of Security representatives at a conference on problems
and enforcement efforts in organized crime, particularly the infor-
mation aspects of crime statistics and activities. The conference
will be held on Long Island on 15 and 16 October 1965. Colonel
White agreed that it would be proper for Office of Security repre -
sentatives to attend this conference.

c. Colonel White and I discussed retire - 25X1 A
ment. Colonel White had discussed retirement with on 25X1A
17 September, and was to consider this and report back
to Colonel White. Because of the need to make an early decision on
this matter, will be requested to advise us of his posi-
tion on retirement n the near future, thus enabling him to take ad-
vantage of the recently signed bill providing an 8. 1 per cent annuity
increase for Federal employees who retire by 30 November. The
question of his 25X1 A

Deputy Director of Communications were also discussed. We will
schedule another meeting on this topic, probably on 30 September.
