The Advanced Aircraft Reconnaissance System category is reoriented for FY-1972 through FY-1975 as follows: Advanced Reconnaissance System Studies The proposed studies will encompass a parametric survey of current survivable profile options based upon a thorough analysis of the defensive environment and the current candidate hardware options based upon these survivable profiles. Hardware development will not be undertaken, however the design options will be lined up parametrically to show the trade-offs in terms of survivability, technological constraints, development lead times, and program costs. It is recognized that changes will continue to occur in the Sovbloc defensive environment, in the U.S. state of the art technology, and in the requirements for reconnaissance. The purpose of these studies is to maintain a current posture, a set of updated options, in the face of the above continually changing situation.
