Powers, 55, sought to hold back
:tears and said:
"I know there isn't much,
hope, but I have to hold on to,
some. In the tit years he has
been flying, most of it has been
alone. Only a few times hays
there been anybody else in his
plane."
The family learned of the
pilot's disappearance for a rep-
resentative of Lockheed, who
visited their home at Mill Creek,
ten miles from Norton near the
Kentucky line.
"The boy's mother is taking
.tihs pretty hard," Mr. Powers
.said. She has been sick four
years. She heard all about this
on the radio. We couldn't keep
it from here." A daughter said
Mrs. Powers was suffering from,
a heart ailment. The family saw;
the pilot last in November.
