25X1A9a 1. and I took Bob Macy, Bureau of the Budget, out to the building
site. I also had lunch with Bob. I did not glean very much information from him as to
what might be raised in our Budget Hearings on Thursday except that they will undoubtedly
give us a rough time on our personnel strength.
2. Jim Garrison reported that he was having some difficulty with the Office of the
25X1 A6aComptroller in obtaining funds for the operation of I must follow up
25X1 A9g)n this with -=
25X1A9a 3, asked me about the possibility of getting a new car for the Deputy
Director (Plans). I told him that we could provide a new or relatively new car but that it
would have to be a Ford or Chevrolet rather than a bigger car which the Deputy Director
(Plans) apparently had requested.
4. Jim Garrison called to my attention
which, he cited, gives the Technical Services Staff certain procurement, storage ana sup-
ply responsibilities he thinks they should not have. I must look into this,

5. Jim Garrison discussed with me the possibility of extending at 25X1A9a
25X1 A6a _ for one year. I told him that I had no objection to this provided that was
agreeable, but that I did not think we should force him to extend. Jim agreed.
25X1A9a 6. Jim Garrison reported that ave both resigned, ef-
fective 31 December 1958, rather than take the overseas assignments for which they were
25X1 A9a scheduled. I told him that we might want to review the _ case later, inasmuch as we
had so much invested in him, and perhaps offer him an opportunity to stay on in the Agency
