This is more than double the expertee ice of the previous two years. This experience and recently developed require" nts in the nD/P and nD/I areas indicate that the present rate of g th V11 cor4tinue during 1956. At this rate it is estimated that the prssert Records Center space trill be exhausted by about 1 April 1957. _ ia. The destruction of records Weld b,' the Center is iuzcreasing gradually each year but this will not offset the increased rate of receipt. Material going 3.o the Center is responsive to a records control s4_ be lul_e developed by the Records auagement Staff and the office conced r e i . These schedules show retiree ent dates (to the Center) eni de's ureic tior dates. This fiscal year over 2200 cubic feet of material was either destroyed at the Center or returned ,_o offices concerned for screening a,;;d destruction. 5. It Is estimated that the Agency 110,000 cubic feet of records in active files. Records control schedules co srIug 70,556 cubic feet (65%) or material have been prepared. Of th e acount 19.5% Vi 1. be retained perm eanently and 80.56 kept from one to 75 years. About 4,r% of the temporary records fall within the 5 to 15 year retention period. Consequently no appreciable increase in rate of destruction viii occur for some tire. 6. Since a certain per cant of all records Creafed oust be retained permanently by the Records Center as the Agency Archives, the total holdings of the Center over the years will always be increasing. This rate of increase amity vary, and it could occur that during a particular year a belar?ce would be setzck between records received.and records dsstroyeed However, by the very nature of the operation no permanent stabilization of available storage spine can be sebieved.
