DISC BOOTS
PURPOSE
1. This Manual provides guidelines for trainees and operators when
setting an application for disc boots.

PROCESSING
3. Whenever a disc boot is performed on the U1100/84 NDS, the following
steps should be followed.
a. Load paths for each cluster should be established before
any bootstrapping is done.
(1) Cluster 0, 1 or cross clustered
(2) CPU's in application
(3) IOU's in application
(4) MSU's in application
(5) SIU's in application
b. Maintenance mode switches used in configuration should be in
off position.
c. Release panel lock.
d. Stop the processors in the application if not stopped.
e. Load path should be set to specify components in applications.
f. Application light for load path must be lighted (green).
g. Enable partition interface indicator must be lighted (green).
h. Enable manual load light must be lighted (yellow).

i. Check the DRS System Pack for disc string and unit.
j. Set the channel/device/unit rotary switches on the IOU selected
by the load path to point to system DRS boot device.
k. Rotate the proc select rotary switch to the appropriate pro-
cessor and set no jump keys for the disc boot unless a dump is needed.
1. Under manual load, press.clear then initial load.
m. EXEC messages will be displayed at the operator's console.
The console will be the lowest numbered console on-line at the SAU.
n. Since booting from this device (DRS) the EXEC has already
figured out which is the DRS pack.
o. Refer to operators reference manual, procedure supplements,
etc., for answering further EXEC messages.
