TO REPORT NO. 1. "The blueprints of the Polish ship construction bureaus were formerly approved by Lloyd's in London. However, since 1949 (not sure of date), when Poland broke with Lloyd's, all ship building has been subjected to Soviet control. The blueprints are now approved by the office of Morski Rejestr Statkow in Konopnicka Street, Wrzeezcz. All the employees of this office are Soviets: Your or five technicians or experts, and one secretary. They do not even make an attempt to check on the drawings or to examige them properly. They give their approval on the spot while the messenger of the construction bzureau waits (na poczekaniu). 2. ""_'his Soviet office is subordinated to Moscow directly. There is also a Poiski Rejestr Statkc, which is subordinated to the Centrainy Zarzad Przemyslu Okretowego, but neither is of any importance and both have to get their business approved by the above Moreki Rejestr Statkow. 3- "The maps of the Polish coast and of the coastal region of the Baltic (we saw no others) at present J9527 printed in Foland are not correct and do not correspond to the terrain. As members of the yachting cl?+sb Budowlany at Gdansk, we were allowed the use of a map of the Vistula Bay (Zalew Wiel.aay). The map was published by the Polski Institut Sydrologiczy I Moraki in 1953.
