THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
summary: A campaign conducted in Rumania during the tall of 1952
was the firewood procurement campaign, beginning in mid-September,
which aimed at the collection and storing of large quantities of fire-
wood for the coming winter. Quota fulfillment varied throughout the
regiunea of the country, according,to the degree of assistance rendered
by the regiune party committees]
A major fall campaign in Rumania is the collection and transport of all
available firewood. Those regiunes which had received active support from their
committees were the ones showing the most favorable progress. Thus, the Pitesti,
Timisoara, and Galati regiunes, appearing in white on the accompanying map, are
leading with a record of 80 - 100 percent completed quota. Cluj, Hunedoara,
Craio'a, and Baia-Mare regiunes and Hungarian Autonomous Regiune have completed
only 60 - 80 percent of the plan, whereas Oradea, Arad.,Stalin, and Suceava
regiunes completed only 40 - 60 percent of the plan.
The regiunes showing the worm res Its are Bacau, Iasi, Barlad, Constants,
Bucharest, and Ploeati, where the amount of firewood collected and transported
is less than 40 percent of the quota. The regiune party committees are strongly
urged to take definite measures in aiding and controlling the activities of the
local people's councils, to that all campaign quotas may be met.
