Individual flights and 20 to 30-minute forr'ation flights were r:.4ade,
The planes involved taxied by their own power to the take-off point
at the northern end of the field. Take-offs and landings by groups of
two rlanes, three wing spans apart, were also observed, Ten 1iiG-15s took
off in groups of two at intervals of about 20 seconds, once it was

planes, 2 biplanes and 2 single-engine high-wing m.onorlanes. Seven
MiQ-15s practiced flying; weather was 8/10 overcast with moderate visibility.
The liiG-15s took off individually, in groups of two and four. The groups
of four planes flew in right stagger forriation. After landing, the planes
were towed by trucks to the aircraft dispersal area, This procedure may
have been chosen because the soil was wet from the rain.
the following physical characteristics on the twin-jet
p.ianest Except for the rear portion, the fuselage was drop-shape; the
rear was. in the form of a cigar and had a plexiglass upper section. The
nose also consisted of plexiglass, The wings had a rectangular figuration
and were fitted with drop-shape devices at their tips. The wings had no
dihedral; their upper edges were set closely below the upper edge of the
fuselage. The aircraft was fitted with a single rudder assembly projecting'
upward toward the rear and marked with a red Soviet star under a red number.
The elevator assembly was
set in the lower third of the rudder a.ssem .Ly, was swept and had a
slight dihedrals The cabin consisted of plexigla.ss and began near the end
o' the plexiglass section of the nose. The plane had dual nose wheels
.fitted on cowled landing gear struts. The main landing gear was mounted
below the jet engines, which were suspended from the wings and fitted in,
the first inward third of the wings. The section of the engine projecting
beyond the leading edge of the wings was double as lung as that projecting
beyond the trailing edge.
4. Aircraft observed at the airfield on 16 April included 12 M1G-15s parked
in front of the flight control station; 12 iriG ;15s parked at the ea,tern

no change in the status of the antenna mast on fade e S trasse and the
antenna system in the park west of Felixdorf. Six trucks, 3 field kitchens,

trucks mounting AA machine guns were parked in the barracks carip west of 25X1
Wiener Neusta.dt. Truck driver with red--bordered black
epaulets was seen proceeding from the airfield to the barracks installation..
Trucks driver with red-bordered black epaulets and 1 ::1
driver with black-bordered blue epaulets, 25X1
both drivers wearing black-bordered blue epaulets and sedan
driver with black-bordered blue epaulets, were observed
on the Wiener Neustadt-Bad Fischau highway.
E::Ce ient. Wiener Neustadt its still occupied by two fighter regiments.
Air activity observed at the installation indicates that the training of
the two regiments which moved to the field in October 1952 has prog weed
as far as formation flying at squadron level. It is definitely believed
from the description-given of the two twin-jet planes and some sketches
which were not disseminated that these planes were I1-28s. There is a
possibility that they belong to a bomber unit stationed in Hungary and
that this bomber unit occasionally holds joined exercises with fighter
units.
