1. On 26 June 1953 the Central Commaittee of the Partido Socialists Popular (PSP,
Cuban Communist Party) held a meeting at the home of Nila ORTEGA, at which
time the present political situation in Cuba was discussed. The possibilities
of a revolution in Cuba, as opposed to a program of agitation throughout the
Republic, were discussed and examined carefully to determine which alternative
would beat benefit the Party.
2. The general conclusion was that the Party should try to establish better
relations with the government of BATISTA and gain additional positions within
the government. By doing this, in the event that a political revolution should
develop in Cuba, the PSP members in the government would be able to throw the
country into a state of social revolution as well.
3. A committee composed of Carlos Rafael RODRIGUEZ, Anibal !SCALANTE, and Salvador
GARCIA Aguero has been charged with the responsibility of drawing up plans to
bring about a better political understanding between the PSP and the BAATISTA
government.
