1. On 3 March, the Soviets offered the Palladium, Excelsior, and Regent Theaters
in Rangoon kyats 3,000 per week each, to be paid three months in advance, to
handle Soviet and Chinese films exclusively.
By 12 March, the Excelsior, Regent, and Carleton Theaters agreed to communist
offers of kyats 5,000 per week per theater to be paid cash in advance for the
full term of a 17-week contract. The money and films are coming from the
Soviets and Chinese Communists, both working through the Oriental Trading
Company.
A vehicle carrying Soviet films for distribution to the Burma Workers and
Peasants Party (BWPP) recently delivered the films to BWPP headquarters.1
