I I U M (LISTED BELOW) w%-1`/ 1 25X1A SUPPLEMENT TO 25X1X REPORT NO. 1. There is a Rumanian division headquarters located in Roman. This division replaced 7 Division which moved to Braila in the spring. 2, There is an anti-aircraft regiment of 6 Division which moved to Cernavoda six months ago. Between Fatesti and Cernavoda are located a few heavy anti- aircraft guns and same small caliber guns. There are four guns emplaced near the Boroea and Danube River bridges. On the small hills in the area, there are some medium caliber guns in fixed emplacements, 3, Prior to June 1950, there was a sizeable amount of Rumanian military traffic through Roman toward Cernauti, but since them only sporadic traffic has been observed in this area. Eaxiy traffic iunoluded about forty Soviet tanks. There were no Soviet troops in the Bacau and Roman areas. There is only one regiment of infantry and one regiment of Rumanian artillery in Roman at the present time. 4, Roman is a quartermaster supply area.. Supplies include saddles and other leather equipment, tents, and mechanical supplies for Rumanian Army Corpse The barracks of a former cavalry regiment are used as a warehouse. These barracks are guarded by 100 Rumanian soldiers. 5, A dump is located across the bridge and near the railroad station of Bacau on the Moldova River, which contains wagons, tires and field pieces to equip two field artillory regiments (old Skoda 75 mm. pieces). 6, 'There is an agricultural school located on the Baosu-Roman road. Nearby is a forest to which there is a trunk line coming from the main line between Baoeu and Roman. This is the location of 20enall ammunition dumps which are open and surrounded by earth. There was no anti-aircraft defense seen there, but the dumps are guarded by 150 Rumanian soldiers, 7, .Near the Pitepti railroad station on the Roman-Baca road and near the Bistrita River there are some wooden warehouses surrounded by trees and which .re about seven hundred meters north of t_Le station. There are 10 dumps here containing war materiel. The area is guarded by Rumanian soldiers and is enclosed with barbed wire. On the road to xn9oani, about two hundred motors from the Raman railroad station, there is a factory Which was an ordnance repair shop during th?e last imr. It is n raking; agricultural equipment and employs about ono thousand ei hundred people. iohind the plant is the Itartan airfield. Two months ago the factory was ordered to partiAlly convert to war produ:tion. 9. About thirty one kilt notern above the road to Pa a ni at the "funcel railroad station, in a wooden hill about six kilometers above the station. Six Ynoxrths ago, 60 hectares were cleareed in the center of the forest there. It is rumored that an airfield is under construction on the plateau, and thre hundred vroxicors are employed mere. On the Ile ,u.Duohareet railroad line at ga'cegti, 28 kilometers from Rcmm, there is an airfield scheduled for oanstruoti,on. 11. There is an advanced infantry reserve offioars'training center at Raman where they are trained in the use of Soviot weapons, 12. There Is a Rumanian infantry regiment located at Baoau which is a part )f the division at oo iuli, an Array Corps Iieadquartere at la i. some divisions at Roman and Bac u,/: n infantry regiment at Bot atini whi is a part of the division at Roman, some infantry battsijons at F .oent,, :l ohoi, and Sucesava and an infa ry regiment at Pjat r?, IIe which is a part of the division at Focyani. 13. The Soviet controlled airfield at Tecuoi 1 has six large hangars. About twenty-five fighters and light baiberq were observed on this field. An airfield at Foogani r;zioh was built by thep Germans is not in operation now. 14. Across from the railroad station at Bu>wb i there Is an airfield under Soviet control vihioh contains seVen snail hangars. At this airfield about fifteen fighter planes and light bombers Wore pbagrved. 15. Iiilitary bakeries at I.organ are producing 7,000 loaves of bread daily which are supposedly better than that rzade for atvilians. There are two flour mills in Roman, one p oduoing; 200 tons ` .n 24 hours and the other 100, tons in the one period. There is also a suer refinery at Roman which eap1oys 3,000 people and produces approximately''Wo thousand five hundred ton ton carloads each quarter (October to January). Part of the production is routed to the woviet Union. 16. !Ieembere of the Tudor V'ladimireesou Division soon to be appearing throughout Rumania.
