Operations (DO) Training Film (U)
REFERENCE: Memo to DDA from DDO, 17 April 1978,
Same Subject (DDA 78-1617)
1. (C) The Office of Training has obtained two
copies of the subject film. One copy is being forwarded
to the for use as suggested in the
reference. It is planned that the Operations Course trainees
will be shown the film at an evening session followed by a
round-table discussion with instructors and their spouses.
The instructors have all served abroad and are capable and
prepared to answer questions and to comment on the issues
raised in the film.
2. (U/AIUO) The other copy of the film will be retained
in the Office of Training for use in the DO case officers'
spouses' briefings and Chiefs of Station Seminar.

to be shown to DO case officer trainees and also to their
wives if at all possible. I agree with this suggestion
and recommend that you contact the Pictorial Services
Branch of the Office of Central Reference, where I
understand a copy of the tape is available. The film
should be presented in a seminar-type situation permitting
senior officers and, if at all possible their wives, to
add perspective to the remarks by and to place
them in a proper overall context. a ance comments are
very definitely called for regarding the moral issues and
frustrations which case officers and their wives must
resolve. It also would provide a useful introduction to
the supporting roles which wives play.
