SchtSnefeld Military and Civilian Airfield 52-23, E 13-2~ in the Soviet Zone of Germany xas located ~`acl. directly soot of the torn of Rudow (distance unknown to me). T e closest obatruct'ion to this irregularly shaped field (dime~taions unknown to: me) was a large castle two kil?metere zest. About three kilometers from the Aorthsast end of the ,sirfield runway, and in~the direction of 50?, was a railroad depot. ' 2. The Airfield's surface was level ar>td, 45 m. above sea level. I believe that there were drainage ditches along the 'sides of runways, taxi-strips, and a rons,? the drainage was natural for grace areas ~ncl. B, Pt. ~. There were no hardstands or revetments. 3. A Soviet Aeroflot commander (name unknown to me) was in charge of the field and coordinated with the military commanding officer (name unl~ox~a to me). Approximately five persons worked in the building which housed the paseenger~' waiting room ~ncl. B, Pt. ~]. I sax about 30 unarmed Soviet soldiers marching in forma- tion on the field ~ncl. B, Pt. 1]. I also saw Soviet guards, armed xith aubia~ach ne guns, stationed at various positions aroursd the field. A landing "T" xhich was aligned with the runway in use. d. A beacon used for ADF let-down procedures. 5.
