1. It is reported that a certain Engineer Ploss (fnu) acted as the middleman
in the recently concluded sale of 1000 tons of Chilean electrolytic copper
to USIA (Administration of `'oviet Properties in Austria) at 5i8 per ton
c.i.f. Trieste. The Soviets have taken delivery of the shipment.
2. The Chileans delivered 2000 tons and the second lot of 1000 tons arrived in
Trieste early in march 1949. Floss is atta'-rting to sell the Soviets the
second lot at 1565 per ton, since the world price for this comrodity has in-
creased. The Soviets, however, are delaying the purchase of the shipment
at the quoted price.
