Lieutenant Colonel Nicolai Tchernychev, Soviet Charge d'Affaires in
Athens, has reportedly been recalled to the Soviet Union. He is scheduled
to leave for Moscow on or after 214 April, and has requested the travel
agency to place his luggage aboard the first vessel going from Piraeus to
a Soviet port.
2. Colonel Tchernychev also requested this travel agency to load the luggage
of Michael Gasilov, who is also to leave with his family. Gasilov is
listed as chauffeur at the Soviet Embassy in Athens.
3. Ivan Orlov, attache, who is also being recalled, is scheduled to travel
with Colonel Tchernychev.
Comment: There have been previous reports of the expected
arrival in Athens of new personnel to replace those who are returning
home. Nicolai Kusnetsov arrived in Athens on 7 March from Prague.
He is to act as commercial attache of the Soviet Embassy.
