I., Socialist Unity -arty (SED) functionaries in the Zehlendorf
town district discussed the following points at a meeting
on 10pri l 1950

are x.eluctant to provide quarters for FDJ attending the
Berlin '.:hitsun rally..:
b. It wws therefore decided that billeting commissions of
three or four SED members would be appointed... It will be
the duty of these commissions to inspect all houses in the
area around Berlin and specify, on stickers pasted on the
doom, the number of FDJ who can be accomodated,
c:, Despite the possibility that such a measure will create
anger and resentment, the S :,:D will execute i billeting
program and will consider any interference as sabotage
d,3 It is planned to conduct a quiet campaign for quarters
in the .,estern sectors of Berlin,, with the FDJ attending the
":hitE,un rally disguised as family guests,
2, a,. It was learned on 3 .peril. 1950 that the Brandenburg FDJ
headquarters fixed the quota of Sauer,Belzig count youths
to be sent to the ;,Litsun rally at 2,400 FDJ, 500 t worts
participants and 100 Young iioneors,
b., The FDJ in Bauch ?=Belzi ; county must raise a fund of
45,000 eastmarks to finance the ;;hitsun rally..
c.. FDJ and Sports participants from that county will go,ko
Berlin by special train (1,800 youths), by truck (600 youths,
30 per truck) and hiking groups (500 youths);. The Yount?
.,ioneers will move to Berlin exclusively by rail some days
before the ".hitsun holiday,wh~rn the Barlin "Children's Republic"
