These vehicles which can be easily separated into two parts are being used for the transport of 1nn-- nine 1. Two POL pipelines of about 10 cm diameter and running underground have been laid from the old German POL Depot, and the new POL Depot behind the hangars,to the dispersal areas along the taxiways. 2. New Ammunition Depot At approximately 025 915 a new ammunition depot is to be constructed. The excavation and constructional .,?ork will be carried out by Bau Union BRANDENBURG. A water pump installation is to be installed by a LEIPZIG firm, the water being drawl from the abandoned lignite mine workings nearby. Two rail spurs Will serve the ammunition depot, one from each of the tail tracks which run to the north and to the south of the sitez This work will be carried out by RBD HALLE personnel. ., 3. 4. 6 Jan 58 EGA troops from the MAGDEBURG area arrived at the A/A BARPACIM, MERSEBURG and took over from the Sovietiroops 3 A/A guns and one iaobile radar array. - The guns were estimated to have about 100 mm. calibre and twin wheels. 5. 10 Jan 58 About 120 Soviet troops from MERSEBURG A/A BARRACKS entrained at MRSEBURG Railway Station. Their baggage, in suitcases and boxes, was heavily wrappedia blankets and stitched hessian. They appeared to be leaving on re-posting to USSR. 6. E A/A rocket weapons are constantly arriving at the barracks and local German opinion is that Soviet A/A defPnee is being based on rockets rather 7. The Soviet OC MERSEBURG A/A Barracks has moved with his staff to the airfield.
