in Baku. The school had three au 25X1
oriums, a library,, and gymnasium. No dormitories were provided for
students, other than for students of Iranian origin for whom the school had
rented a private apartment on Mukhtadir Street, Siding (Tupik) #3, House #5.
The school director was Ali SHAMSIYEV. At the time of information the 25X1
school had 80-90 students, 90 percent of them were females.

2. Formerly, in order to qualify for competitive/examinations, this school 25X1
required seven years of elementary education, however, this was changed
to nine years in l954-55. High school (10 years) graduates were admitted
to the second year of study. To be eligible for entrance examinations, one
had to submit to the school authorities an application, handwritten: auto- 25X1
biography, certificate of physical examination, three photos, and produce
a passport for inspection. The applicants with top marks (otlichniki) from
the previous place of learning had no entrance examinations, all others had
undergo examinations in chemistry, physics, history, Russian or Azerbaydzhanian
languages. The course of study was three years. The best students were.
granted scholarships, 1!}0 Rubles per month the first year., 160 Rubles per
month the second year, and 180 Rubles per month the third year.

The school was divided in two sections - Russian and Azerbaydzhanian. All
teachers, with the exception of teachers of Russian and Azerbaydzhanisn
languages, instructed in both sections. The following subjects were presented

4. The practical work of the students was conducted at various pharmacies of
Baku. At. the end of the second year all students were sent for 10 days
practice to the Pharmaceutical-Chemical Works of Baku (Bakinskiy Farmo-
Khimicheskiy Zavod). It was located about one-half a kilometer west (toward
Baku) of the electric railway station Beyuk-Shor and employed 200-250 workers
in one 2-story building. The plant, under Director Hassan RAGIMOV, produced
bandage gauze and a variety of drugs, such as ichthyol, glucose, pyramidon,
streptocyte, and others.
5. Before the state examinations at the end of the school all students were
sent for two months of so-called "state practical works. to the pharmacies
of their choice. The graduates were distributed among pharmacies of Azerb.
SSR, with the title of pharmacist helpers. The majority of the graduates
become affiliated with the Pharmaceutical-Chemical Works of Baku described
in Paragraph 4.

2. The president (rektor) of the University, also the president of the Academy
of Sciences of Azerbaydzhanian SSR, was Yusuf MAMEDALIYEV. He had two.vice-
presidents (prorektor), one for program supervision, (fnu) ALIYEV, and the
other for supply,, Col. of Reserve (fnu) GADZHIYEV, former batallion commander
of the Military School for Iranians in Baku in 1947.

consists of seven oil fields, six of them located in the vicinity of Kirov
Settlement north of Baku, and the seventh located in Kirovabad area (Naftalan,
Mir-Bashir, Kazanbulak). The seventh field was composed of producing wells 25X1
of the former Kirovabad Oil Trust dissolved in 1953 or 1951.

Each of the oil fields is divided in four sections (uchastok) and employs
300-140 worke's,in three shifts. In the summer, the first shift starts work
at 0700 hours, in the winter it starts at 0800 hours,
the names of the following oil field directors: (fnu) VERDIBEKOV
of the second field, (fnu) KHANKSHIIEV of the third, (fnu) NEKHTIYEV'of the
fifth, and (fnu) SIL'VESTROV of the seventh field. 25X1
2. Trust offices (kontora trests) are accommodated in a two-story building
located about halfway between the Kirov Settlement and Binagady. The offices
engaged some 60 employees, 80 percent of them of Russian origin, 10 percent
Azerbaydzhanians, aAd the remaining 10 percent of unidentified origin.

4. the output of various producing wells averaged from one 25X1
to forty tons and that six local fields of the trust fulfilled their daily 25X1
quota by 102-105 percent which amounted to approximately 2,000 tons. Once
during his regular night duty at. the Trust office
offices. From there the oil is pipe lined to an unknown destination.
5. All producing wells are interconnected,by a system of pipes; the main pipe
of this system leads to a reservoir (char), of which there is one to each
field. These oil reservoirs artially underground,are about 10-15 meters in
diameter. the capacity of the reservoirs. From here 25X1
the oil is compressed-to the o storage which consists of 6-7 reservoirs
similar to those described above. This oil storage is located on the firs 25X1

formerly the oil was piped to Batumi, but in recent years
i is sp an oil cracking plant imeni Stalina in the Bailov_ section
of Baku. This plant has been on fire several times, the last big fire was 25X1
in 1954 or 1955 when about half of the plant facilities were put out of order.
At present, the plant has been fully reconstructed,

7. I he underground gasoline pipe line (benzoprovod) Baku - Sumgait
runs the proper of the fifth field. The local drivers needy for extra
gas were aware of its location and pumped out the desirable amount by drilling
