Work on the port is proceeding rapidly because of good weather. the section of the pier towards the sea is about finished] it is within a hundred meters of the breakwater. At the present time four ships can moor and load and unload. The arearopppsitecthe pier is being paved with concrete. Work has been begun on the opposite shore where the oil pier is to be constructed. the work will still last approximately two years. The dredges observed continue dredging the bottom. The port pier was encumbered with various material (barrels of soda and sugar, a type of sulphur, metal ingots, rolled metal and coal). Drainage operations are in progress in this area; this work is procieding very slowly and swampy areas are observed in most places. Vineyards and (grain are cultivated in the area. two large radio stations in the neighborhood of a street on the edge of Odessa. There is an extensive set of aerials, all in 5 the orm of a cone. 28 cones for each station. in the perimeter zone between Odessa- Cape Fontana and Sukoy Liman a total of three radio ttafl mitting stations, one large vehicle depot and an air field. The air field extends between two roads. Five planes -and one helicopter were visible. A large rotating radar installation was installed on a terrain elevation. (see attached sketch No 1). Coast guard boat) has been observed. USSR--Kerch Canal -~ anchored at Cape Takil the guns were covered with tarpaulin. It seems there were torpedo tubes between the forecastle and the stern. This unit is larger than the usual coast guard boat.
