1. The Ganz Railroad Car works in Hungary i budgeted for an expenditure
of 32 million forint for the five months from 1 August to 31 December 1948.
This estimate was then reduced to 28 million. It was subsequently sub-
mitted to RTIK (Heavy Industries Center) which further reduced it to 21
million. The estimate was then placed before the planning bureau of the
Supreme Economic Council, which is in charge of the Three Year Plan, and
there was a further cut to 19 million forint.
2. At a meeting of the Ganz works) these cuts were
announced. It was further stated that the cut of 13 million forint had
been necessary as the Supreme Economic Council was allocating this sum
for fiilitary purposes.
3. Other smaller units in the Ganz comuine have suffered a similar
proportionate reduction in their estimates, though
the amounts involved are relatively small and unimportant.
4. Ganz and Company itself is not concerned in direct production of war
material at the present time.
