527 Training Unit
the 527 Training Unit was organized at Yongbyon (125-i.8, 39-49)

veterans,, The unit was moved to Ch0aechQon (125?52,, 38-53) (YD-4907) shortly
after its organization.

The
headquarters-consisted of 100 staff officers and instructors., a service platoon
with 200 men, and guard, signal and-medical platoons. The 1 Battalion with 300
trainees was at Tagijang-ni (125-559 38-50) (YD-5302)9 the 2 Battalion with !400
trainees at Choyang-ni (125=54a 38-50) (YD-5202)9 the 3 Battalion with 300
trainees at Chugwvol-1i (125-59, 38-51) (YD-59014), and the 6 Battalion with 200
trainees at S?lmae-ri (125?56,, 38-53) (YD-5407). The 5 Battalion had 300 trainees.
L. The rice for the unit was obtained from the village government on ration tickets
issued by the food section of the Chunghwa-gun People's Committee. Other supplies
came by truck at night from the direction of Peyyngyang.
905 unit
the 905 Unit, commanded by YI Tong-ho (2621/2639/3185
was at Yonan 1 10, 37-5!4) (BS-5198) and was directly attach$d to the General 50X1
Bureau of Rear Services of the North Korean army. The 300 men of this unit were
former soldiers discharged from active duty for medical reasons. They were
assigned to the 905 Unit by the North Korean army Central Reception Station2 at
PnyongchQ&i, P?yoongyang City, 500. meters west of the P9yo"ngyang railroad station
(125-14,140 39-00) (YD-3720)0 The men worked on farms during the day and guarded
the coast in the area at night. The crops produced .by the unit were delivered to
the General Bureau of Rear Ser?vices4
the unit had about 30 staff officers including the adjutant. Lieutenant
Colonel KIM Pyong-ki (6855/3521/1015)and the supply chief, Major KIM 50X1
Huiahwan (6855/3556/3562). It was equipped wit 5 heavy machine guns and 12 light
machine guns. Many of the men had no weapons. The unit was supplied by the
General Bureau of Rear Services in P9yongyang.

quarters was at YD-123!4. The bureau, also known as the 5L5 Unit, operated under
the M inist of National Defense and was commanded by Major General YI Yun-sik
