R,; try 83-oSo9 SUBJECT: CONGRESSIONAL AV PRESS BRIEFINGS ON THE FY 84 BUDGET This note is to provide the follow-up guidance on budget briefings promised in my January 17 memorandum. The initial press briefing on the FY 84 Budget will be held by Secretary Regan, Director Stockman and Chairman Feldstein in the State Department auditorium on Monday, January 31, at 10:00 a.m. We are asking Agencies not to schedule press briefings on their portion of the Budget prior to the completion of this session (approximately noon on Monday). We also would request that you refrain from scheduling any briefings for the Congress until the morning of January 31. We understand that you will be getting some pressure from the press and the Hill to release the specifics of the Budget prior to the official transmittal date. We would appreciate, however, your assistance in keeping to the schedule outlined above and thus helping to ensure the orderly release of the President's Budget.
