SUBJECT: -Appointment of Members to Board on Geographic
Names
1. Action Requested: That the Director sign the attached
letter to Secretary of the Interior, Donald Paul Hodel.
2. Background: This is in response to receipt of Secretary
Hodel's letter on 10 September inviting the Agency to appoint
members to the Board on Geographic Names for the two-year period
beginning 1 October 1985. The terms of office of the current
Board members expire on 30 September 1985.

ation of Board business. We are writing to remind you that September 30
is the expiration date of the terms of office of the Board members who
have represented the Central Intelligence Agency for the past 2 years.
The Central Intelligence Agency has been represented by

Board's mission of standardizing names for use in official United States
documents.
We respectfully invite you to appoint a member and one or more deputy
members to actively serve the Board on Geographic Names for the 2-year
