(S/D) During July 1980, the SCALEBOARD brigade in the Central Asian Military Dis- trict, USSR, was relocated from Sary-Ozek SSM Mobile Missile Support Base to Sary-Ozek IRBM Launch Site I 8.5 nautical miles (nm) to the west-northwest. The former SCALEBOARD garrison was subsequently reoccupied by an army-level artillery bri- gade. 2. (S/D) Major elements of the SCALEBOARD brigade were present on at Sary- Ozek SSM Mobile Missile Support Base. Additionally, at least eight artillery pieces were parked outside the garrison. By~ 16 130mm field guns M-46 with truck prime movers, four 152mm gun howitzers ML-20 with truck prime movers, and 16 100mm antitank (AT) guns with MT-LB prime movers were outside and adjacent to the SCALEBOARD canisters had been removed by[ main gate of the installation. (S/D) At Sary-Ozek IRBM Launch Site 1, two SCALEBOARD transporter-erector-launchers (TFLs), one probable SCALEBOARD resupply vehicle, four MAZ-535/537 HD cranes, and at least 21 probable SCALEBOARD canisters (some not shown on the graphic) were newly identified on imagery of0 (Figure 3).
