(S/D) Imagery of revealed extensive cratering of the simulated airfield target at Sanboli Bombing Strafing Range in the Far East Military District, USSR (Figure 1). Between the simulated airfield was heavily bombed. At least 15 new craters, ranging in size from 14 to 22 meters in diameter, were observed in the northwest dispersal area, and at least ten new craters approximately 12 meters in diameter were in the southwest dispersal area. The western parking apron and the center of the runway are so heavily cratered that any additional new craters could not be identified. 2. (S/D) The simulated airfield target is similar to Datong/Qingshuihe Airfield a Chinese airfield in the Beijing Air District (Figure 2). The runways at both airfields have similar headings at the simulated airfield and 35/215 degrees at the Chinese airfield. The parking facilities at both airfields are similar in appearance and location. 3. (S) Sanboli Bombing/Strafing Range is approximately 50 nautical miles (nm) north- northeast of Khabarovsk and the Sino/Soviet border. Datong/Qingshuihe Airfield is approxi- mately 200 nm south of the Sino/Mongolian border and approximately 1,000 nm southwest of the Sino/Soviet border at Khabarovsk.
