(S/WN) A truck-mounted scissors-type bridge of indigenous design has been identified at the Mizil Armored Vehicle Repair and Development Plant Romania. 2. (S/WN) Two of these bridges were first seen mounted on carriers near a recently com- pleted assembly/repair building at the facility (Figure 1). A complete bridge, folded in the travel position, was mounted on one carrier, while only half of a bridge span appeared to be mounted on the other. These two vehicles and a probable third carrier were subsequently seen in the shipping yard of the facility (Figure 2). In addition, several bridge treadway span sections were lying on the ground nearby. 3. (S/WN) In the travel position, the bridge and carrier are long overall with a~ meter span and a0width. When the bridge is deployed, the estimated span length is 10 meters. Individual treadway spans are approximately wide. Imagery Analyst's Comments 4. (S/WN) The carrier for this bridge is the Romanian-designed and -built DAC-665T cab- over-engine truck, also used as the carrier for the new Romanian PR-71 ribbon-type mobile ponton bridge. The Romanian forces have not previously had a scissors-type bridge. This new bridge, mounted on a standard chassis, would be a logical complement to the new ponton bridge.
