SIGNIFICANCE: DESTROYED T-54/ 55 TANKS WERE OBSERVED 2. LOCATION: THE TANKS WERE APPROXIMATELY SIX NAUTICAL MILES (NM) SOUT HWEST OF THE ACCESS ROAD TO THE MITLA PA SS AT 29-56-15N 032-48-20E. 3. MISSION READOUT: TWO DESTROYED T -54/55 TANKS AND TWO DESTROYED PROBABLE T-54/55 TANKS WERE OBSERVED IN THE SINAI. IN ADDITION, ONE DISABLED/ABANDONED T-54/55 TANK (NOT SHOWN ON GRAPHIC) WAS OBSERVED IN THE VICINITY, APPROXIMATELY 0.5 NM NORTHWEST OF THE FOUR DESTROYED TANKS. THIS TANK DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ISRAELI AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION MARKINGS, INDICATING THESE ARE PROBABLY EGYPTIAN TANKS. THIS WOULD REPRESENT THE DEEPEST EGYPTIAN PENETRATION INTO THE SINAI OBSERVED TO DATE. These notes have been prepared for briefing purposes only and should not be used for detailed analytical work.
