LOGNOTE -- Chief, Operations Group, 5 July 1984
1. (Williams) phoned this morning to call our attention to
a priority ca le e is sending in to Admin regarding the bureau's
FBN payscale. Al said that everyone was being jerked around to a
point where they stood to lose thousands of dollars in comparison
to what they would have earned if they had never entered the FBN
system. He noted that in the case of Dagbovie, the Chief Monitor,
it could amount to over $7,000. The staff had been quick to
figure out the situation and had requested an urgent meeting with
him, which would take place tomorrow. He said they were pretty
unhappy about the long delay in correcting the pay situation and
their patience was fast running out. He said he was phoning
because he felt this was not a matter where PMCD could just fiddle
with the scale and say, "That's the best we can do." I said we
were very sensitive to the long and unfair delay in completing
Abidjan's scale and unhappy over it, but that the matter
unfortunately had been taken out of our hands for a long time by
the lawyers. I said he had our full support and we would give the
problem priority attention.
