OF PAGES 1 SUPPLEMENT TO REPORT N0. THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION TEACHING RADIO IN USSR SECONDARY SCHOOLS V. Sterligov, Schoolteacher, I. Pesin, Director, Club oP Young Radio Amateurs, Moscow Radio has great significance in modern science. Soviet schools, in charge oP training youth Por practical activities, must pay more attention to teaching the principles of radio. From our own experience and study oP the work of other physics teachers and directors of radio circles, we would like to express the following opinions: 1. Elements oP radio should be introduced in the seventh class in the form of historical information and simple experiments illustrating the phy- sical bases of radio, For this purpose, 4 or 5 hours in the year's course on physics will be required. 2, A course on alternating currents must be given in the tenth class, since without a knowledge of the laws governing them, a? student could not understand the subsequent course on Electromagnetic Oscillations and Waves. 3. The method of giving the course on Electromagnetic Oscillations and Waves must be radically changed and the time allotted to it increased to 20 hours. Several articles in the magazine Fizika v shkole (Physics in the School) are very opportune. Thus, an article by Shchegolev on "Problems Relating to the Method of Teaching the Co!irse on Electromagnetic Oscilla- tions and Waves in the Tenth Clogs in Secondary Schools" presents a new and, in our opinion, greatly improved method which should be followed in a new physics course, The publishing house Uchpedgiz should publish this article in book form. ~. The magazine Radio should pay more attention to graphic (visual) presentatiott and have a special section on Study Methods and Graphic Pres- entation. 5. The publishing houses Uchpedgii, Gosenergoizdat, and Detgiz should provide books, and posters on graphic presentation. -1- caNFINENTIA~, CLASSIFICATI ON CONFIDENTIAL sTArr: raw Nsae DISTRIBUTION ARMY AIR FDt ~ ' ~~-- ?,~_ ~_- n+u.tLv..w..t.,.svyh..z ~~...,iz,.t;~,c. uwa~ta.t:z:w Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/07/22 :CIA-RDP80-00809A000600360772-5
