Nehezszerazam Ge:yar Diosev&r - Diosgy8r Heavy Machine Tool Plaat: The principal production at this plant is large caliber gun barrel,"A. a diameter between 70 moan and 150 mm and with lengths of four to ten meters. GynnQy si Szerazam Get var - Gygngygs Machine Tool Plant. This plant was built during the years 1952 - 1954; it was initially in- tended that it should be built into the nearby hill but this proved to be too difficult because of the rock foundation. It is now housed in a flat concrete building about 150 m x 150 m. The plant was originally built for armaments production, but in early 1961 only tractors and harvester threshers were produced. Within 24 hours the plant could be converted to the production of small caliber fire arms. There are about 150 machines installed in the shop, including the following items: lathes with the height of the centers between 125 and 300 mm Revolving lathes with spindle borers between 25 and 90 in Killing machines between 5 and 10 horsepower Various types of grinding machines between 3 and 8 horsepower Gear wheel cutters and planers up to a maximum teeth size of 5 Moduls Various types of boring machines 3. - Automobile and Tractor Parts Factory in Budapest, Soroksari ut. Thiiss is the smallest plant under Section Ib; it is housed in a workshop about 100 m x 50 m. Before 1956 tank parts were produced here; now only tractor and automobile parts are produced, but the plant could be con- verted back to tank parts production on short notice. The following equip- ment is installed in the workshop, all modern type machines from East Germany, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet t ion: 40 lathes and revolving lathes 30 milling machines 10 grinding machines 10 gear wheel cutters and planers 20 boring machines 10 special metal working machines 4. I - Lamp Factory in Budapest, Soroksari ut. Some-of the machinery was completely replaced in 1958. Production includes 3,000 machines pistols a month. These are a now Soviet-type 7.62 caliber machine pistol with a slightly curved maga- zine rod (S= azin). Some of these pistols are being exported to Egypt. The synthetic materials needed by this plant are imported The following machinery is installed at the planti anihei Vallelat - Precision Mechanical Concern in Budapest.. Feher ut. This plant was constructed during the years 1952 to 1954 and is located on the former Rakosi troop training grounds. The individual work- shops of this concern are widely separated for tactical defense considera- tions and the entire concern is heavily guarded. The Principal production is of truck-mounted radar units and ultra-short nave telephone systems. 50X1 -HU M 8 TOO (Czechoslovak) horizontal lathes 5 vertical lathes with a diameter over 2 meters 5 Till semi-automatic special milling machines 6 Pfauter semi-automatic gear wheel cutters 6 M. (East German) gear wheel planers An additional 50-odd machines of various types mostly old models 6. Gamma Outlkni ) vek - Gams Optical Works in Budapest XI, Fehervari ut. This plant was completely rebuilt and modernized in 1954? Optical sights for anti-aircraft guns and homing-devices for artillery and trench mortars were constructed here. As of early 1961 no military equipment at all was made at the plant, although the plant could be converted on short notice. In February 1961 the plant was involved in the Hungarian diesel manufactur- ing program and only Bosch-type injection pumps were being made. 7. Magvar Ootikai M~vek - H 50X1-HUM ungarian Optical Works in Budapest. This plant is about twice the size of the Gamma Optical Works and is pri- marily engaged in the production of precision instruments like oamieres, geological measuring instruments, etc. The major part of the production is exported to China. Recently tro cal-t ui t has been oduced for export to the Arab countries. The p3ant is equipped ern mac e tools made in East Germany and Czechoslovakia. Nehesezerazam Gevar God"oll"o - Godoll"o Heavy Machine Tool plant. This plant is also administratively under Section Ib. 9. Dan= Szerssam Gounrar - Danuvia Machine Tool Plant in Budapest ZIP, Angol utca 10 - 20. Workshops I and II were consolidated in January 1961 into workshop I housed in a large 120 m x 60 m shed. The principal production of Workshops I and III in February 1961 consisted of the Danuvia 125 cc. motorcycle, of which 2,000 are produced each month. The production norm for a domestic model motorcycle is 56 hours; the export model takes an extra 6 hours, and 200 or 300 are exported each month to Yugoslavia. It costs about 8,000 forints to produce one motor-50X1-HUM cycle; the retail price is about 12,600 forints. The wages involved in the production of one motorcycle are 500 forints. Workshop If was en- gaged in the production of induction pumps and was subordinate to the diesel manufacture program, as of February 1961. Workshop V had pre- viously been used for the production of parts for the Gans diesel engines; since July of 1960 this shop has been used for armaments production. In February 1961 production consisted of 3,000 casings (G) a month for the new Soviet-type machine pistol. The casings are then sent to the lamp Factory where they are assembled (see paragraph 4). Workshop VI has been engaged in armaments production since July 1960. A light machine gun of 7.62 caliber with belt feed and bipod was being produced in Feb- ruary 1961; it was anticipated that production could be expanded to 900 machine guns a month by December 1961. The entire gun is produced and assembled in this Workshop; it is rumored that all of the guns are for export to the TZAR. The Danuvia plant maintains a type of museum of all the armaments previously produced in the plant with blueprints, tools, models etc. necessary for resumption of production. On short notice the following items which were discontinued in 1956 could again be manur- factured s "ZP" - Soviet type machine pistol with drum magazine (Trommlmagazin) "ZG" - Soviet type light machine gun with plate magazine (Teller. "ZM" - Soviet model heavy machine gun with belt feed, mounted on two wheels In all there are about 2,000 employ "s at the Denuvia Machine Tool Plant working on two and three shifts; the machinery is all very modern and is only being utilized at one-half capacity.
