1. DD/I memo, summarizing support given to Governor Harriman
re his mission to Moscow, says the Governor spent 2-1/2 hours with our
people on his last day in Washington and is evidence of value placed upon
our views. (er 5548)
2. In Venezuela's pqjsidential elections scheduled for November,
Betancourt's selection--Raul Leoni--seems to have best chance of winning,
altho outcome is anything but certain. Half million new young voters add
to unknown. (OCI 2270)
3. Letter from State's Bill Crockett to DCI indicating some
revamping of FS Inspection Corps --but has no intention of analyzing 25X1
ops of other agencies. To DD/P and IG for action. (ER 5531)
5. called Monday. Delivered letter to General
Adams who expressed general agreement on UW participation. Says
he is not upset by General Yarborough's actions and emphasized that
he (Adams) is playing it cool. Col. 0 will send up memo re
this.
6. Assistants Meeting. The regular 3 o'clock meeting of O/DCI
assistants, once held at 2 o'clock, will now be held at 1130 instead
of 4 o'clock, except on alternate Mondays when it will be held after
the 11 o'clock senior staff meeting.
