generator diesel-electric locomotive. This locomotive weighs 500 kilograms
less than the previous TE-?_ oil-burning models.

railway service flatcar. On one end o? the cur is an electric crane and or.
the other end the operator's cab.
This next car is designed for carrying out capital repairs on tho catenary
network oY electrified railroads. The Casi; of replacing wooden masts ?aith
metal ones will be facilitated through the use o? the crane. Electric welding
equipment and an air compressor are counted on the car.

On nonelectrified sections the car can operstc by means of its oxn storage
batteries.
The car was built in accordance xith specifications drain up by the Elec-
tric Rolling Stock Administration of the Lain Loc~,motive Administration,
Diinistry of Railxays USSR.

The Dnepropetrovsl; Locomotive Repair Plant is currently engaged in modern-
izing IS locomotives. Together xith the mediuri rep::ir of the locomotives the
plant is installing roller bearings in the tender ,journals. On ~6 August 1953
the ceventh such locomotive and tender ti,ere oi,tshopped. This installation of
roller bearings will permit speeds up to j0 kilometers per hour.

sets with roller bearings.

A large 10-ton bridge crane has begin installed and is in operation in the
diesel repair shop of the Ysasnoi~odsl. Locomotive Terminal. In addition, several
electric ,jacks have been installed for raising the locomotives.
A steam hammer is under construction in the forge shop, and ca.l delivery
to the boilers his been mec'nanized.
