Thank you for sharing your concern regarding the outcome of your son's employment application. I understand your disappointment at our decision to cancel further interest in your son as a prospective applicant. At the same time I am concerned that you and your son believe that judgment was reached without careful consideration. Please let me assure you that his application was thoroughly reviewed against existing requirements by appropriate and knowl- edgeable Agency representatives. That he was not selected, however, is neither a reflection on his credentials nor a sign that the Agency has little interest in those with similar backgrounds. Competition for posi- tions is intense in this Agency; and many applicants, like your son, with solid credentials are turned away. This is, of course, small consolation since he placed great store in making a career with us; and we are sorry that our decision was not favorable. The time and effort that your son so earnestly invested in seeking a position with us is appreciated.
