2, hen gave an introductory to OMS' Advance
Cardiac Lie uppor ystem program. Among the statistics he provided
were:
o Ninety percent of men who die within one hour of the onset of
initial symptoms, die from coronary heart disease.
o Seventy percent of the persons ecperiencing cardiac arrest have
a vibration or very rapidly beating heart. Only thirty percent
have a stopped or markedly slowed heart.
3. This was followed by a very interesting demonstration by means
of an actual Advance Cardiac Life Support System exercise. The Obis
medical personnel who erformed the demonstration were very responsive
and professional. indicated that over 30 OMS personnel have
had Advance Cardiac Life Support System training.
4. A Safehaven briefing was provided by indicated
that an exercise is conducted at the end of each 16 hour Safehaven
training program. A lar a Safehaven kit for 30-35 people is an integral
part of the program. OMS has provided
Safehaven training to Office of Communications personnel.
Limited by the number o peop e available to instruct OMS will
concentrate on this domestic training program. ~ then gave the
attendees a demonstration of a Safehaven training exercise with real
live players. It was a very interesting and effective demonstration of
innovative ways of meeting medical emergencies where a Safehaven kit is
available, but medical personnel are not.
5. This quarterly review was one of the most interesting and
creative ever provided for DA management.
