NAME NEW AMBASSADOR TO FINLAND
SLOVENIAN GOVERNMENT APPOINTS NEW MINISTER -- Ljubljana, Slovenski Porocevalec,
17 Nov 50
The following persons were recently appointed to pasitions in the Sloven-
ian government: Boris Ziherl, to be Minister of Culture and Science, and Mira
Svetinova, formerly secretary of the People's Skupstina, as chairman of the
Slovenian State Control Commission.
Boris Ziherl was born on 25 September 1910 in Trieste. He lived in Skofja
Loka and Ljubljana. He became a member of the Slovenian Communist Party in 1930.
In 1933 he was imprisoned for 4 years in Sremska Mitrovica. During the German
occupation he helped organize the Liberation Front. In 1943 he became secretary
of the Agitprop of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slovenia and
headed the Higher Party School. In July 1944 he became a member of the staff in
the headquarters of the People's Army of Liberation. After the liberation he be-
came director of the Institute of Social Sciences and an alternate member of the
Central Committee of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. He is an expert on his-
torical materialism and its methods.
Mira Svetinova's maiden name was Tomsic. She was born in 1915 in Idrija.
She attended high school, normal school, and the university in Ljubljana. She
joined the Communist Party in 1939. During the People's War of Liberation she
was active as a party functionary in Ljubljana and in the Gorenjsko region. After
the liberation she was secretary of the city committee of the party in Ljubljana
and later was active in the Slovenian government Section for Developing the Peo-
ple's Authority. In 1946 she became secretary of the People's Skupstina. In.
addition to her other duties, she is chairman of the Reviewing Commission of the
Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slovenia and chairman of the Slovenian
Council for the Protection-of Mothers and Children.

SLOVENIAN OFFICIALS REASSIGNED -- Ljubljana, Slovenski Porocev3lec, 16 Nov 50
Ljubljana, 15 November -- At today's meeting of the People's Skupstina of
Slovenia the following officials were relieved of their duties and reassigned:
Dr Joze Potrc was relieved of his duties as Minister of Science and Culture and
appointed Minister of Public Health; Vlado Krivic was relieved of his duties as
chairman of the State Control Commission because he is expected to accept a re-
sponsible political position in Ljubljana; Dr Marijan Ahcin was relieved of his
duties as Minister of Public Health and appointed Minister of Social Welfare; Dr
Anton Krzisnik was relieved of his duties as Minister of Social Welfare; Boris
Ziherl, formerly director of the Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade, was
appointed Minister of Science and Culture; and Mira Svttinova, formerly secre-
tary of the People's Skupstina, was appointed chairman of the State Control Com-
mission.
ZDRAVKOVSKL APPOINTED AMBASSADOR TO FINLAND -- Belgrade, Sluzbeni List,
25 Oct 50
Nikola Grulovic, former Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary
to Finland, has been recalled and replaced by Peter Zdravkovski, who is a min-
ister plenipotentiary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
