The Statistics Administration Georgian SSR reports that the second-
quarter 1950 gross-production plan was fulfilled 112 percent by the indus-
try of the Georgia;, SSR. The plan was fulfilled 7.05 percent by Union in-
dustry and 115 percent by republic industry, Compared with the second
quarter 1949, gross production increased 12 percent, including 7 percent
for Union industry and 16 percent for republic industry.

Harvesting of grain crops is progressing satisfactorily on kolkhoz fields
of the republic. As of 25 July, more grain crops had been harvested than in
the same period of 1949, including 26 percent more by harvesting combines.
The grain from 65 percent of the harvested area has already been threshed.
Grain harvesting has been finished in Kvarel'skiy, Lagodekhskiy, and Gardaban-
skiy rayons, and is nearing completion in Signakhskiy, Tsiteltskaroyskiy, and
Telavskiy rayons.
As of 25 July, 11 percent less mowing had been completed than last year.
Sagaredzhoyskiy, Mtskhetskiy, Kvarel'skiy, Akhmetskiy, Tsiteltskaroyskiy,
Borzhomskiy, and Signakhskiy rayons, as well as the rayons of the South-
Osetian Autonomous Oblast, are lagging in hay harvesting. By 25 July, 13
percent more ensilage work had been done than during the same period of 1949.
As of 25 July,8 percent more tobacco had been picked than by the same
date of last year. Tobacco picking is especially satisfactory in kolkhozes
of Lagodekhskiy Rayon.
The year plan for tractor work is being carried out successfully by ma-
chine-tractor stations. As of 20 July, 38 percent more tractor work had been
done than by the same date of last year. However, hay removing by tractors
and ensilage work is progressing slowly.
As of 15 July, kolkhozes of the republic had prepared 31 percent more
soil for tea plantations than in 1949. Mass picking of tea leaves is in
progress on the plantations. As of 25 July, 75 percent of the year plan for
procurement of tea leaves had been completed.
The second-quarter plan for centralized capital construction was com-
pleted 103 percent by construction projects within the Georgian SSR, includ-
ing 101 percent by Union projects and 109 percent by republic projects.
The volume of construction completed since the beginning of 1950 ex-
ceeds the construction volume of the first 6 months of 1949 by 16 percent.

During the second quarter 1950, the average daily loading plan (average
of monthly plans) was fulfilled 106 percent, and the average daily unloading
plan, 95 percent. Compared with the second quarter 1949, loading in the
second quarter 1950 increased by 17 percent and unloading by 15 percent.
The p'an for coal loading was fulfilled 121 percent, manganese ore 93 per-
cent, petroleum products 133 percent, and cement 76 percent.
The volume of freight hauling by the Ministry of Automobile Transprrt
Georgian SSR increased 22 percent in the second quarter 1950 over the a. .-
ond quarter 1949, and passenger transport increased 24 percent. The second-
quarter 1950 plan was completed as follows: 68 percent for freight hauling,
and 108 percent for passenger transport.
The second-quarter plan for retail commodity turnover as a whole was
completed 98 percent, including 98 percent for turnover in the retail trade
network and 102 percent for turnover in public eating enterprises.
